Baskets

Many of these baskets are from the 90' - early 2000's. These baskets are sold: AS IS. Some were made by Pat, some by Jim Rutherford, and a few by other basketry artists. If we know for sure, the maker is listed.

6" Pot Belly with Ash Lid / tall knob

These were samples that Jim made for classes that he taught in the early 2000's.

Neither were signed, so I added "Jim" to the bottom of each basket. The basket with the shorter knob has Jim's address sticker inside the lid.

Jim sold very few baskets, so these are treasures.

Small Burma Tote

The Burma Tote was Jim Rutherford's design based on a basket he had gotten at the Thai - Burma border. After his death, Pam Feix purchased the molds & pattern rights. Pam made this basket as a gift to Pat. Made of binder cane with leather handles.

Thai Telephone Book Basket

This basket was made by Jim Rutherford during a "Telephone Book Basket" workshop given during one of Royalwood's Basketmaking Tours to Thailand. It is made from the pages of old telephone books wrapped around a wire core. Wooden base & wooded beads for accent.

Curry Wool Drying Basket

Pat bought this oak basket from Betty Curry during the early 2000's. The legs are walnut as well as decorative pieces attached to the oak handle.

There is a crack on one of the splints at one corner where the legs fit in. Otherwise in excellent condition.

Mother Betty's Basket

Jim Rutherford made this oak basket in Curry's Worskhop at the 1994 Basket Gathering. Betty's husband, Roger & daughter, Michelle, made the original basket for her as a Mother's Day gift. Until Betty started teaching it, this basket was a one-of-a-kind. This was Roger Curry's last workshop. He passed away several weeks later. Betty did not teach this basket again after that year.

8" Nantucket

Pat made this basket over one of Jim's first "molds". Whe he first started teaching he used a part that was used in the production of toilets at the Mansfield Pottery. The baskets made over these "molds" had a beautiful shape, but when he could no longer get them, Jim moved on to the more tradional wood molds.
